Welcome to The Write Inn!

We’re so happy that you’re here!

Just check right in, pull up a seat and let’s get this writing thing going together.

What is The Write Inn?

This is a space that Dorothy (Koomson) and Nadine (Matheson) have set up so you can have a bit of company, fun and support while you write this November. We may extend this beyond that, but we’re just focusing on November right now. We wanted an alternative to the other November-based writing space where you can drop by as needed and start, continue or finish that writing project you’ve been meaning to get to. Want to write in company? This is the place to do it.

What do you do?

Set yourself up a profile and tell us a little bit about yourself. Then use this space as a way to track your daily word count as well as finding people to chat to online while you create.

When you sign up for the Write Inn, we have a few basic rules that you agree to by setting up your profile and/or posting.

These are:

The Rules

Inn-Clusive

The Write Inn is an inclusive space. Everyone is welcome. We won’t hesitate to kick you out if you post racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, classist, casteist, or any other kind of bigoted stuff. You can believe and say whatever you like – just don’t do it at The Write Inn. We take the same view with harassment or bullying. We don’t give second chances, by the way. One and done as they say.

No politics

Please save the political chat for your other group chats/spaces. We’ve all got opinions, but this isn’t the place to share them. Again, we won’t hesitate to remove and block you if we find you violating these terms and conditions.

Think before you DM slide!

We’re hoping to have people at all stages of their writing careers at The Write Inn – self-published as well as traditionally published. No one is better than anyone else. With that said, please don’t DM people asking for an intro to their agent/editor/publisher/media contact, etc, etc. It’s stressful for the other person, it’s not cool and will get you removed from The Write Inn. Slide out of The Write Inn before you slide into people’s DMs.

Please be polite

We’re not saying ‘be nice’ but please be nice. There’s no need for rudeness or bad behaviour. As mentioned, any harassment or bullying will have you removed.

No Spam!

Please don’t spam posts with links to your books, website, writing services, etc. You’re welcome to put information about yourself on your profile, but keep that stuff off the group chats.

REALLY IMPORTANT:

In the settings, TURN OFF receive notifications to your computer/phone email inbox. If you don’t, you’ll end up with every message that’s sent to the group and that can get overwhelming.

Seriously,

TURN OFF Notifications I can’t stress this enough. TURN OFF email notifications unless you want your inbox overwhelmed.

Ai stuff

We’re not fans of generative Ai round these parts so please don’t run other members’ work or words through whichever Ai machine you use. Again, it’s not cool and it’ll get you removed.

Posting

We hope you enjoy posting at The Write Inn, but please be mindful of bombarding the forum with too many posts, especially if you don’t get the engagement you want.

We really want this to be a place to have fun, get support and keep a track of your writing progress. We’re really excited to have you here and look forward to this becoming a useful space for you on your writing journey.
